Top 10 Motorcycles in September 2020 | Hero Splendor, Hero HF Deluxe, Honda CB Shine and Bajaj Pulsar grab 39% of total sales
Strong rural market demand and a growing need for personal transport in urban India, due to social distancing norms, drives demand. OEMs despatch higher numbers to gear up for festive sales.
The revival in the Indian automobile industry is, not surprisingly, being led by the passenger vehicle (26.45% in September 2020) and two-wheeler (11.64% in September 2020) segments. While the SUVs (24.50%) are delivering the goods in the PV market, it is the motorcycles (17.30%) that are bringing home the bacon for two-wheeler OEMs.
Of the total 1,849,546 two-wheelers sold last month (11.64%), motorcycles with 1,224,117 units comprised the bulk of them – 66% – while scooters with 556,205 units accounted for 30% (0.008%) and mopeds with 68,929 units(20.33%) and 3.72% share of the total, made up the rest.
