TVS increases scooter market share to 24% with half-a-million units in April-August
With 523,458 units, TVS Motor Co records best-ever scooter sales in the first 5 months of a fiscal and also substantially expands its market share.
The Indian two-wheeler industry, which is finally seeing demand returning albeit much lesser than that in the pre-Covid FY2019, also has the scooter market to thank for its improving fortunes. Of the total wholesales of 66,63,265 units (up 33%) in April-August 2022, scooters comprise 33% or 21,91,208 units (up 53%). A year ago, the scooter share was 28.5%, which translates into an increase of 4.5 percentage points.
