Despite sops, car sales continue to plod in Feb

Sales continued to be lacklustre in February 2014 but OEMs are looking to March that could well see a spike as a result of the excise duty cuts and depreciation benefits. Amit Panday reports.

The sales slowdown entered its sixth consecutive month  (given that there was a spike in August 2013 on a slow base). The top two players – Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor India – saw flat growth while Tata Motors, Toyota Kirloskar, Mahindra & Mahindra and GM India saw a drop in their monthly sales numbers
