Ten days before the much-awaited reveal of the Union Budget 2014 and five days after the finance minister’s market-lifting statement that excise duty cuts on vehicles across segments have been extended to December 31, green shoots of recovery seem to be sprouting, particularly across the troubled passenger car and commercial vehicle segments. Passenger car sales rose for the second month in a row as buyer footfalls increased in showrooms.
