Made-in-India 8-litre engine
The locally manufactured BS IV Volvo D8C engine delivers peak power of 330hp and offers a high degree of performance and fuel efficiency.
According to the company, the driveline and powertrain in the Volvo 9400 coaches, available in 13.7- and 14.5-metre-long variants, are designed to last for the lifecycle of the bus, which is typically for 10 lakh kilometres. With long service intervals, these key aggregates can contribute significantly to lowering of running costs. Moreover, the NVH levels are significantly reduced, which lead to better travel comfort for passengers and lowers driver fatigue, which is essential from a safety standpoint.
Safety is of a high order and the Volvo 9400 coach gets active safety features like ABS, Electronic Braking System (EBS), Disc Brakes and Hillstart Aid. Added to this are Bus Body Code features like emergency exit door; breakable emergency exit windows with T-punch glass breakers; emergency service door opening switches; fire suppression system in engine hatch and luggage areas; smoke detection system in the saloon and luggage areas; and fire extinguishers.
The 9400 range also includes 13.7 and 14.5 metre coaches that feature BSIV compliant 11-litre engines mated with high-performance drivetrain aggregates.
