New Toyota Innova Crysta gets 18,000 bookings in India
High customer demand for top-end ZX variant with automatic transmission, Innova Crysta’s waiting period now goes up to 4 months.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), which launched the new Innova Crysta earlier this month, is seeing a good market demand for its latest-generation MPV.
Speaking at Chennai today at the opening of the Toyota Driving School, Akito Tachibana, managing director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said that the carmaker has seen an encouraging customer response. He said the company has received 18,000 bookings since the vehicle’s launch and currently there is a waiting period of up to 4 months on the Innova Crysta.
Interestingly, there is higher demand for the Innova Crysta’s top-end ZX variant which is equipped with an automatic transmission version and costs Rs 20.78 lakh (ex-showroom). The base variant is priced at Rs 13.84 lakh. The earlier-generation Innova did not have an auto transmission option. The company is currently producing 7,000 units per month at its Bidadi plant and is looking to ramp up up production.
Elaborating on his priorities for India, Tachibana said, the focus will be on the company’s existing customers and taking care of them and also making TKM more competitive in India. The third focus area will be “to develop our human resources in India at global standards. We do not want to only export vehicles but also export people from India as well,” said Tachibana.
