Tata Tech joins consortium on sustainable mobility
The goal of this open electric vehicle alliance initiated by Foxconn aims to bring the strategic partners together to build the next generation of EV, autonomous driving, and mobility service applications as well as global engineering and product development digital services.
Tata Technologies has joined the Foxconn-initiated MIH Consortium to promote development of sustainable mobility solutions and encourage collaboration within the industry, the news agency PTI reported Wednesday. The MIH (Mobility In Harmony Consortium) comprises over 2,300 members in the field of software, hardware, and services.
The goal of this open electric vehicle alliance is to bring the strategic partners together to build the next generation of EV, autonomous driving, and mobility service applications, the global engineering and product development digital services firm said in a statement.
Warren Harris, Managing Director and CEO, Tata Technologies said, "Our association with MIH Consortium reinforces our position as a key partner in the automotive value chain"
The collaboration with the MIH Consortium will enable Tata Technologies to collaborate with other members on solutions and capabilities that deliver value for its stakeholders and enable it to innovate new solutions, the report added. The MIH Consortium is creating an open EV ecosystem that promotes collaboration across all stakeholders, including OEMs and Tier I suppliers, in the mobility industry to realise and standardise EV technologies that underpin the EV revolution, the statement continued.
Foxconn, which is amongst the largest electronic contract manufacturers in the world, is looking to collaborate with mining major Vedanta for development of semiconductors and display fabs in the country. The company also has in its pipeline to set up plants for EVs. Several India states including Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu amongst others are said to be vying Foxconn to set up its plant in their jurisdictions.
