Suzuki Motorcycle India has launched the 2017 Series Gixxer SF SP (with ABS and fuel injection) and the Gixxer SP motorcycles.
The Gixxer SP 2017 Series variants feature a tri-colour combination with snazzy graphics on front cowl and the fuel tank, and a Gixxer SP 2017 emblem. The Gixxer SP 2017 Series motorcycles are now available in shades of orange black at Suzuki dealerships. While the Gixxer SF SP (with ABS and FI) is priced at Rs 99,312, the Gixxer SP costs Rs 81,175 (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
Announcing the launch, Sajeev Rajasekharan, EVP, Sales and Marketing, said, “The latest Special Edition variants of the Gixxer SF, with ABS and FI, and Gixxer inject fresh excitement and thrill into the successful and popular Gixxer motorcycles portfolio. The SP editions stay committed to our promise of offering riders a blend of exceptional performance, sporty looks, and a pride of ownership.”
Notably, Suzuki Motorcycles has sold 142,831 units during the April-July 2017 period. This marks a YoY growth of 56.56 percent for the company, which has subsequently increased its market share from 1.52 percent to 2.17 percent during the same period.
The Gixxer motorcycle family and Access 125 are the two leading brands that together drive the volumes for Suzuki Motorcycles in India. Suzuki’s Gixxer brand has sold total of 16,799 units in Q1 FY2018, up 39.15 percent YoY. It had sold 12,072 Gixxer motorcycles in Q1 FY2017.
The Suzuki Gixxer is one of the leading stylish premium commuter motorcycle brands that compete with rivals in the 150cc-160cc segment. Its rivals include Honda’s CB Hornet 160R, CB Unicorn 160; Bajaj Pulsar NS 160; and TVS Apache RTR 160.
On the other hand, the Suzuki Access 125 sold 86,426 units in Q1 FY2018, up 66.49 percent YoY. It sold 51,910 units in Q1 FY2017.
Interestingly, the company’s sales received a major boost after it rolled out the new Access 125 early in 2016. The scooter, which is also Honda Activa’s oldest rival in the domestic market, has become the bestselling model for Suzuki in India.
