Steven Woolley, chief technology officer of Mahindra Electric, the country's leading electric vehicle maker, has put in his papers at the company. The company is now scouting for a replacement, a source confirmed the same to Autocar Professional.
Woolley had played a key role in new product development at Mahindra Electric, and was also instrumental behind creating MESMA (Mahindra Electric Scalable Modular Architecture) platform, which was showcased by the company at the 2018 Auto Expo in New Delhi.

A mechanical engineer, Woolley started his career as an account manager with German automotive lighting major Hella in 1992, followed by a five-year stint (1995 to 2000) with the Webasto Group. In 2000 he moved to premium British carmaker Lotus Group, where he worked closely with the CEO. Woolley also held the position of CEO for Gevco, an automotive company which is working on developing mass-produced affordable EV between 2009-2013.
Before joining Mahindra Electric, his last brief stint was with Ricardo, where he held the position of Chief Engineer & Vehicle Technical Lead in 2016-2017.
Woolley's expertise include strategic and operational business planning and management; programme and departmental management; electric vehicle design; whole vehicle and product design and delivery; business and project turnaround; systems and process qualification and delivery; CRM and solution selling.
