India will be an important component of Stellantis' growth plans during the course of this decade, said its CEO, Carlos Tavares at a presentation on Tuesday.
According to him, the smart car platform (an obvious reference to the C-cubed programme) and global powertrain hub will be key growth engines for Stellantis in India.
The powertrain venture with the CK Birla group is already shipping out consignments overseas and the momentum will increase in the coming years.
Tavares said the goal was to quadruple market share in India which will logically come from both Citroen and Jeep brands. Consistently maintaining double digit profitability would be top priority too, he added.
This year will see the C3 debut from Citroen's facility at Tiruvallur near Chennai while the Jeep Meridian will roll out of the Ranjangaon plant near Pune.
