SML Isuzu suspends production at Punjab plant for five days
The company has attributed the move due to the sudden increase in the Covid cases.
The resurgence of the third wave of Covid-19 is causing major disruptions for the already troubled automotive industry. SML Isuzu, one of the oldest commercial vehicle manufacturers in India has decided to “temporarily suspend production” at its Punjab plant.
The company has attributed the move due to the sudden increase in the Covid cases (especially with highly infectious variant - Omicron), which has resulted in challenges/issues in the supply chain and likely impact on the demand of school buses, and to ensure safety of its employees and optimized the inventory.
The suspension of manufacturing will come into effect from today January 10, to January, 15.
