Pune-based Sintercom India has announced successful development of cam-to-cam scissor gear through the sintering process for a leading automaker. The company has also commissioned the gear rolling line. With this, Sintercom says it has become the first sintered components manufacturer in India to do so.
Following BS VI norms which have enhanced emission reduction, the scissor gears facilitate upgraded noise level (NVH) through reduction of backlash. These gears adapt the densification process on teeth flanks to gain improved mechanical properties. P/M gear rolling densification is a post-sintering process in which the porosity is closed at the surface and at some depth into the flank of the gear, which results in improving the dimensional control and also the mechanical properties.
With this technology being developed in India, the company expects a surge in new business for development and conversion of various gears.
Commenting on the milestone, Jignesh Raval, MD and CEO of Sintercom India, said, “We are proud to be India’s first sintered player to develop cam-to-cam scissor gear.
