The 3-day biennial Auto Expo-The Motor Show 2020 will kick-start from February 7-12. The theme of this edition of the Auto Expo is, ‘Explore the World of Mobility’ which also resonates the industry’s vision for future. Over 90 companies including start-ups are expected to participate this year. There will be over seventy new launches and 65 of these will be from SIAM members alone.
The 15th edition of the auto show spread over 23,5000 square meters with key OEMs participating in the indoor built-up area of 51,000 sq metres, will showcase a complete range of clean and green vehicles. A launch pad for some of the key brands entering Indian markets, it also includes unveiling of exciting new products by existing brands. New emission technology products and vehicles with more stringent safety standards will be featured under one roof. But it will not just be a futuristic perspective, but also showcase Indian automobile industry’s preparedness in terms of embracing BS VI emission norms.
Gurpratap Boparai, Chairman, SIAM Trade Fair Group and MD, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India said, “Despite facing severe business challenges this year at the Auto Expo, the industry will get together and put the best efforts to give new dimension and feel to the visitors, enabling them to ‘Explore the World of Mobility’ The 15th Edition of the auto show will be one of the cleanest and greenest expo ever with complete range of clean and green vehicles. Besides the new vehicles showcase at Auto Expo, we will also witness almost 70 new product launches across various categories.”
Sugato Sen, deputy director general, SIAM during his presentation mentioned that despite challenging domestic sales, “India Auto Inc puts its best foot forward to match the aspiration of the nation.” He further mentioned that in addition to cleaner vehicles, the event will also showcase major disruption in the technology and the field of IoT, having built-in features ranging from V2V and V2X connectivity.
The Auto Expo – Motor Show 2020, shall become the launch pad for the revival of India auto industry, which is already showing some positive signs of consumer sentiments, after a very long period of subdued demand that lasted for about a year, said a presentation slide.
SIAM acknowledged that ‘the show this year has been organised under difficult circumstances, and despite some members missing being occupied with responding to their business challenges, the auto body stood together and nothing symbolises better the solidarity and the resilience. It shows how in the face of the current flux and challenges, the industry refuses to cow down.’
Sen also mentioned that the Auto Expo – Motor Show 2020 will also for the first time see the introduction of the ‘World Car of the Year’. Responding to a query on footfall, the auto body believes that the event is expected to continue to draw over 100,000 visitors each day, a trend similar to the past.
When asked about a query that rising cost of participation has been a deterrent for many OEMs, Sen said that SIAM has kept the same pricing for exhibitors for the last eight years.
