Russian lube maker Obninskorgsintez eyes India market, scouts for a partner
Showcases three brands — Sintec, Takayama and Rolf – at ACMA Automechanika New Delhi and evinces keenness to set up a base in India.
Obninskorgsintez, a russian manufacturer of automotive oils, could be the next player in the indian automotive lubricants market. The Obninsk-based company represented by its own brand Sintec, is scouting for a partner in India.

Speaking to Autocar Professional at the third ACMA Automechanika New Delhi, Eugene Goryansky, commercial director, Sintec International, sees very good scope for the company which showcased three brands – Sintec, Takayama and Rolf – at the aftermarket show. The company has the licence to manufacture and market the Japanese Takayama brand and the German brand, Rolf. Goryansky says, “India is a very big market but quite price sensitive at the same time. We are looking for a partner but we are also open to enter this market on our own if we don’t find a partner.”
The company, which is close to 25 years old, is keen to set up a base in India in a year from now. In terms of price positioning, the Sintec brand is the most affordable in its range of lubricants. Sintec International has 20 brands overall.
