Polaris targets 4,000 ATV sales in India by 2020

Polaris targets 4,000 ATV sales in India by 2020

Polaris, the All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) major, is targeting sales of 4,000 off-road vehicles in in India in the next five years.

Talking to Autocar Professional today, Pankaj Dubey, country head & MD, Polaris India, said: “The company has already sold 1,000 ATVs in India in the past three years. The off-road motor sports vehicle market is growing in India as it is becoming as a major adventurous sport.” Given the current market demand, he expects to sell another 3,000 off-road vehicles by 2020.

Fifteen percent of Polaris India’s ATV sales have come from government sectors like the police and defence as these vehicles can handle rough terrain like rocky mountains, forest areas and coastal regions.

A PEZ or off-road track is where enthusiasts can ride Polaris ATVs. Currently Polaris India has 46 PEZs across the country and it is looking to expand to 200 PEZs in the next five years.PEZ are generally spread over half an acre and more within or outside city limit and require an entertainment license. Polaris India says it provides the track design/layout for the PEZ and also branding support for the PEZ upon purchase of three vehicles. Execution of the civil work for the has to be done by the owner of the facility.
