Piaggio launches new Ape City+ 3W for last-mile connectivity
Piaggio claims that the newly launched 3-wheeler Ape City+ is India’s first 230cc engine with 3-valve technology in the AF category and 436cc diesel engine.
Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd (PVPL), a 100 percent subsidiary of the Italian Piaggio Group and a leading manufacturer of small commercial vehicles in India, has launched the new Ape City+, marking its entry into the three-wheeler mid-body segment.
Piaggio claims the new Ape City+ has India’s first 230cc engine with three-valve technology in the AF category. It is an all-new, ground up platform jointly developed by Piaggio’s product development teams from Italy and India. The vehicle will be available in 4 fuel variants – LPG, CNG, petrol and diesel.
The new Ape City+ caters to urban and suburban needs. Along with three colour options, the vehicle will be sold with a warranty of 36 months/ 100,000kms (whichever is earlier) for the CNG/LPG and petrol variants.
Under the super saver schemes, customers get the benefit of 5 scheduled services free of cost with no charges for general maintenance, parts and labour in the first year. The Ape City+ diesel variant comes with a 42 months/ 120,000km super warranty (whichever is earlier). The three-valve technology engine in the AF category provides one of the best-in-class power and good pickup.
Speaking at the launch in Mumbai today, Diego Graffi, MD and CEO, Piaggio Vehicles said, “The last-mile passenger transport dynamics is changing rapidly as cities are expanding into suburbs. There is a requirement of a versatile commercial people carrier, which can cater in both in-city and outskirt applications. The new Ape City+ is suitable for both city as well as outskirts and it will definitely address the gap present in last-mile connectivity. It is equipped with India’s first 230cc three-valve technology engine in alternate fuel variant and proven 436cc engine in the diesel variant, both of which offer great power. The three-valve technology engine assures low maintenance cost.”
