Nippon Paint, a fully-owned subsidiary of Japan’s Nipsea Group, today signed a deal with Japanese automaker’s Indian entity – Nissan Motor India – to supply paint for refinish and repair services at the OEM’s workshops in the country.
The two have come together to agree upon a unique drop shipment model, which will allow Nissan service centres to directly order their paint requirements to Nippon Paint and get them delivered through its wholesalers.
The exclusive three-year partnership will entail Nippon Paint to supply its Nax-Premila range of products for bodyshop operations to Nissan Motor India dealerships.
According to Sharad Malhotra, president, Nippon Paint India Automotive Refinish, “At Nippon Paint India, we provide innovative paint and coating products, and services with a focus to drive a mutually healthy business for the long term. We have been proactively working with Nissan in India for past several years and our new exclusive partnership will help us reach out to the entire Nissan dealer network across the length and breadth of the country. This will ultimately result in improved bodyshop operations, product quality and value that will benefit Nissan dealers and customers.”
Rakesh Srivastava, managing director, Nissan Motor India, added, “It is our constant endeavor to offer excellent service and products to our customers; this partnership will enhance customer experience with standardisation of the bodyshop process. Our exclusive tie-up with renowned Japanese brand Nippon Paint India will ensure paint supplies at standardised rates through our unique drop shipment model for our dealership.”
Nissan’s aftersales efforts
Nippon’s Nax-Premila is claimed to be a premium, solvent-borne paint offering that focuses on rapid, high-quality and cost-effective paint repair and refinishing solutions for automotive body repair and paint shops.
The three-year tie-up with Nippon Paint can also be visualised as Nissan’s efforts to improve its aftersales and service in the country as it moves towards reviving its gasping business in India. The company had introduced its latest offing – the Nissan Magnite sub-compact SUV – on December 2 at an aggressive price tag to announce its entry into the rather competitive yet promising segment which has registered speedy growth.
Before introducing the Magnite to the customers, Nissan Motor India had also enhanced its sales and service network by opening 30 new service centres and 20 retail outlets on November 2, to take the total count to around 150 touchpoints across the country.
