Micro-mobility service provider Yulu plans to ramp up fleet size by 10 times
Yulu has grown its fleet size to 10,000 electric vehicles (EV) spread across Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bangalore.
Yulu, a micro-mobility service provider claims it has emerged as India’s leading e-mobility service provider. Founded in 2017, Yulu has grown its fleet size to 10,000 electric vehicles (EV) spread across Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bangalore. It plans to increase its fleet size to 100,000 electric two-wheelers by December, 2021.
Yulu started with a mission ‘to provide sustainable and affordable mobility at scale to solve for the first and last mile connectivity and to address the challenges of air pollution and traffic congestion’. It has developed a proprietary IoT driven and highly scalable battery swapping infrastructure along with in-house vehicle design to accelerate the adoption of e-mobility in the country. Over the last 3 years, 2.5 million Yulu riders have covered 27 million kilometres and saved 23 lakh kgs of carbon emission.
“It has been a momentous journey full of challenges and opportunities, with a truly rewarding outcome. We are extremely grateful to our millions of users who have wholeheartedly embraced e-mobility as their daily commute option. We were fortunate to attract investors who believed in our vision and supported us through this challenging journey,” says Amit Gupta, co-founder & CEO, Yulu. Bajaj Auto is a key investor in Yulu. The two-wheeler major made a strategic investment of Rs 58 crore in Yulu in November, 2019.
Yulu says during the ongoing pandemic period its two-wheelers are sanitised multiple times a day, and users can also see the ‘last sanitised’ timestamp on the app.
The mobility service provider has established strategic partnerships with city authorities, business/tech parks, public transportation entities such as Delhi and Bengaluru Metro too to provide an integrated and efficient mobility solution.
