Mercedes-Benz India expands R&D facilities in Bangalore and Pune
The carmaker inaugurated a new R&D facility in Whitefield, Bangalore and also expanded the capacity of its satellite office in Pune.
Mercedes-Benz India today inaugurated a third research & development facility at Whitefield, Bangalore. Spread across an area of 119,227 sq ft with a capacity of 900 seating, it is located close to the head office of Mercedes-Benz R&D India (MBRDI), also in Whitefield.
Further, the carmaker’s satellite office in Pune at Hinjewadi also expanded its capacity by 23,318 sq ft adding another 203 seats for expansion.
Thomas Merker, vice president (Body & Safety), Mercedes-Benz Cars Development and acting Chairman MBRDI said, “The digital transformation of our company is in full swing and is affecting our entire value chain. Our India center through its talented workforce provides the necessary gilt edge raising the digital quotient of the company. MBRDI supports multiple regional hubs of Daimler in keeping the product on computer for as long as possible.”

With over 3000 engineers, MBRDI focuses on topics ranging from computer-aided design and simulations (CAD, CAE) for powertrain, chassis and exteriors to embedded systems, telematics and developing various IT applications and tools. The satellite office in Pune specializes in interior component designs and IT engineering.
