India's largest passenger carmaker Maruti Suzuki has issued a voluntary recall for the new Dzire due to a possible fault in the rear-wheel hub.
Dubbed as a ‘service campaign’, the recall will affect 21,494 units of the Dzire, which were manufactured between February 23, 2017 and July 10, 2017. The company says inspection and replacement will be done ‘free of cost’ for the customer. Maruti had already begun contacting customers whose cars have been affected by the recall since the beginning of October.
Additionally, owners of the new Dzire can also verify whether their cars are due for recall by entering their vehicle chassis number (MA3 followed by 14-digit alpha-numeric number) into special portal provided on Maruti Suzuki’s website.
Sales of the new Dzire have kept on accelerating since its launch earlier in May, and in October the company sold 17,447 units (Diesel: 8,579 and Petrol: 8,868). In August as well as September, the hot-selling sedan had zipped past longstanding topper and sibling Alto to become the No. 1 selling car with sales of 31,427 units and 26,140 units respectively.
