Germany based Marquardt Group, an expert in providing interactive mechatronics and user-friendly interfaces between man and machine, has operationalised its global R&D centre in Pune, Maharashtra. The centre with skilled engineers is well equipped to cater to the demands of global and local automotive customers. A focus of the mechatronic specialists in Pune is to develop battery management-related solutions for electric vehicles.
Marquardt India's global R&D centre, spread across 16,000 square metres and located in Hinjewadi Phase 3, Pune, boasts cutting-edge technology and a skilled workforce. A pool of more than 300 highly-skilled engineers in the automotive domain is committed to serving global and local automotive customers for the Marquardt Group. The Marquardt India R&D centre is equipped to accommodate 900 workspaces.
Besides, the centre houses a state-of-the-art product validation lab measuring about 600 square metres and highly sophisticated equipment. The team develops advanced technological products like entry and authorisation systems, and Human Machine Interface products, apart from power and energy solutions.
Marquardt India, which adheres to global quality standards for products and services, has an extensive capability to develop highly complex mechatronics products with Autosar and model-based software having the highest level of functional safety and advanced cybersecurity.
Marquardt’s global development centres are based out of Germany, USA, China, Romania, India and France. The Pune R&D centre is, by far, the second-largest development centre within the Marquardt Group.
"We had already prepared ourselves, years ago, for the mobility shift to electronically powered vehicles. As a pioneer in the development and production of battery management systems, several well-known vehicle manufacturers now rely on our experience," said Dr Harald Marquardt, Chief Executive Officer of the Marquardt Group.
The Marquardt business unit strategy is to further penetrate in the Indian automotive industry considering the announcement from the Government of India to have a 100 percent electric vehicles (EVs) fleet on the road by 2030.
Also, as part of the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan 2020, the government has ensured industry participation in promoting R&D in technology, including battery technology, power electronics, motors, systems integration, battery management system, and testing infrastructure.
With the newly established 'Power and Energy Solutions' business unit, Marquardt has taken the step to meet the demand for electromobility solutions in the country. The portfolio includes battery management systems from 12 to 800 volts, charging and converter systems for battery electric vehicles, and control units, sensors and electromechanical components for hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicles. The electromobility solutions designed by Marquardt are compatible with two-wheelers, cars, trucks and off-road vehicles.
