Mahindra & Mahindra today rolled out its milestone 15th lakh or 1.5 millionth unit of its popular Bolero Pickup from the Kandivali plant in Mumbai. Given that this product first rolled out in 1999, the 1.5 million-unit landmark comes 20 years after start of production.

The popular and rugged Bolero Pickup is used for diverse applications including the delivery of agricultural products, dairy, consumer goods, construction equipment, logistics, fisheries, cash vans and for some Swachh Bharat initiatives.

Speaking on the new milestone, Rajan Wadhera, President - Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, “This is a proud moment for us as the Bolero pickup range crosses the 15-lakh milestone. We would like to thank our customers for their support which has enabled the brand to grow from strength to strength. Today, Mahindra has the most extensive range in this segment.’’

Wadhera added, “Being the leader in the pickup segment for over two decades, we have made our systems and processes robust to understand and address the evolving needs of our customers. We keep introducing new products and technologies at regular intervals to enable our customers to progress in life.”

The Mahindra Pickup portfolio comprises four brands – the flagship Bolero Pik-Up, Bolero Maxi Truck, Bolero Camper and Imperio – each with a unique value proposition and targeted at different customer segments to match their specific needs.

The company also has specialised variants in the range such as the 4WD pickups, CBC pickups, CNG pickups and customised solutions.

The pickup segment in India currently averages sales of over 14,000 vehicles a month and is growing rapidly albeit, like other vehicle segments, is feeling the pressure of the current downturn. With 58 percent market share in FY2019 and sales of 162,000 units in FY2019, the Mahindra pickup enjoys a leadership position in the segment.
