Kia Motors India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kia Motors Corporation today committed Rs 2 crore towards the Andhra Pradesh chief minister’s Relief Fund.
The carmaker says as part of its commitment to tackle the impact of Covid-19 and provide immediate and long-term relief against the outbreak in the state, Kia Motors India, managing director, Kookhyun Shim met the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and handed over the cheque at the Camp office in Tadepally.
While the Indian government has implemented several measures and announced economic aid to tackle the situation, Kia Motors is doing its bit in ensuring effective healthcare support to the citizens. With the public life and businesses coming to a standstill amid the 21-day lockdown, the OEM says it is constantly analysing the situation on the ground and is ensuring relentless support to its customers.
As a part of customer-centric initiatives, Kia Motors India has announced a slew of measures to combat the challenges of the nation-wide lockdown. In these times of uncertainty, the company will be providing extended free services to all its customers until July 2020. The company is also working in tandem with important guidelines of the government and urges all the citizens to practice a high degree of self- discipline in the fight against the pandemic.
The carmaker says it will continue to support the country, governments and is committed towards being a partner in the national fight against Coronavirus.
On March 23, the Korean carmaker, suspended operations at its Anantapur facility in Andhra Pradesh, which is spread across 536 acres, and has an annual capacity of 300,000 vehicles and is also capable of producing hybrid and electric vehicles.
The company has invested $ 1.1 billion (Rs 7,755 crore) into this greenfield facility, and has plans to further increase total investment to US$ 2 billion (Rs 14,100 crore) into operations, products, R&D and market expansion by 2021.
