Japan grants aid for Bangalore’s advanced traffic information and management

The exchanged of notes between Japanese government and the Indian government for the implementation of advanced traffic information and management system in Bangalore city, has been signed between the two nations.

The formal signing ceremony took place in New Delhi yesterday, between S Selvakumar, joint secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India and Kenji Hiramatsu, Ambassador of Japan to India.

As per a Indian government notification, the Government of Japan has committed grant aid of 1.276 billion yen (approx Rs 72.86 crore) for the project. 

This Project will install an advanced traffic information and management system, including signalling system and traffic congestion length measurement sensor, in Bangalore city, Karnataka. As per the notification, this project is expected to contribute towards strengthening connectivity and industrial competitiveness of the local economy by improving traffic congestion and urban environment.
