Italy’s Tecnomotor to enter India with diagnostic solutions, plans local subsidiary

Tecnomotor, part of the $ 200 million Italy-based diagnostic test equipment and automotive tool maker Nexion, is to set up a subsidiary company in India soon to tap a good slice of the business in the country.

Tecnomotor has four product lines comprising diagnostic tools, gas analyzers, AC station and specific tools for fast lift and tyre service.

The company had earlier attempted an India foray but it did not happen due to various reasons including murky market conditions. Now the company is in the process of appointing a distributor and will later set up a subsidiary in India to penetrate the market.

In an interaction with Autocar Professional at ACMA Automechanika New Delhi, Pierantonio Gallu, sales and marketing director, said the company already has a strong list of global OEM and Tier 1 customers for its products

“Around 60 percent of our business comes from the aftermarket (automobile service station sector) while the remaining comes from the OEM and Tier 1 segments,” he said.

The company is set to hire a research analyst to create a database of the cars in India that require high-end tools and diagnostic equipment from Tecnomotor’s product portfolio which comprises 15 product ranges under four lines, he added.

Tecnomotor, which markets its products in 62 countries across four continents, has four R&D centre with 32 top-notch engineers.

Its products include diagnostic tools for cars, motorcycles, trucks and other commercial vehicles, emission control testers  designed for vehicles ranging from cars to industrial vehicles and an air- conditioning charging unit, which has two separate electronic scales for oil and coolant and has a complete vehicle database that can be upgradable via USB or PC. It also has a special programme for hybrid vehicles and a high precision pressure sensor for automatic analysis of micro leaks during the charging cycle.

Its Pokayoke 520 tool is ideal for tyre centres and body shops which need a simple and intuitive tool to quickly manage electronic vehicle diagnosis. It also has a tablet module for integrated diagnostics, based on Linux, Nokia and SQL technology.

The company’s global customers include Magneti Marelli, Iveco, Continental, Fiat and Corghi.
