Indian refineries record robust production in April

Indian oil marketing companies post robust output figures from their refineries. Petrol prices today in Mumbai is Rs 77.38 to a litre and Diesel costs Rs 69.88/litre.

Indian OMCs have informed the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas about the refinery production during April 2019 and reported a 4.7 percent unit higher production than the initially estimated figures for the month. The total production figure, when compared with the April 2018 figures, came out to be 4.28 percent higher.

The month of May began with the petrol prices at Rs 78.70/litre and diesel prices at Rs 69.83/litre. Looking at the latest price build up for the products in Delhi, petrol is levied with an excise duty of Rs 17.98/litre and a VAT of Rs 15.13/litre. Similarly, Diesel attracts an excise duty of Rs 13.83/litre and VAT of Rs 9.71/litre. Petrol prices today in Mumbai is Rs 77.38 to a litre and Diesel costs Rs 69.88/litre.

The refinery production from the Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSE) during April 2019 was 11,263.33 TMT (Thousand Metric Tonnes) which is 2 percent lower than its pre-estimated target for the month and 3 percent lower than April 2018.

Overall production for April was 20,703 TMT.

Indian Oil Corporation's 5,534.44 TMT is 1 percent more than the target figures and 4.23 percent more than the previous April 2018 figures. BPCL’s refinery produced 2,573.24 TMT (4% more than the target and 2% more than April 2018).

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation’s refineries produced 1,089.86 TMT (22% lower than the target and 36% lower than April 2018). ONGC’s refineries produced 6.19 TMT (65% more than the target and 8.2% lower than April 2018).

Reliance Industries reported 6,006 TMT, which was 20 percent more than its April 2018 figures, which was also the target for April 2019.

HPCL, Mumbai reported low refinery outputs due to deferred shutdown of primary processing unit. IOCL has also cited factors such as low crude availability and lack of PESO clearance. Production in JV refineries during April, 2019 was 1721.66TMT which is 14.73 percent higher when compared with April, 2018. Production in private refineries during April, 2019 was 7718.08TMT which is 14.90 percent higher when compared with April, 2018.
