Hyundai records best-ever December sales and production

December has turned out to be quite a month for carmakers in India. Hyundai Motor India, the No. 2 passenger vehicle player. The Chennai-based OEM, for whom the new Creta is providing the firepower month after month, reported sales of 47,400 units last month, the highest-ever December month domestic tally. Hyundai also achieved its highest-ever single-month production with 71,178 units in December 2020

According to S S Kim, MD and CEO, Hyundai Motor India, “Innovative initiatives such as Click-to-Buy and Hyundai Mobility Membership to the launch of Auro, new Creta, new Verna, Tucson and i20 coupled with multiple powertrain options, have reflected in our domestic sales that achieved new horizons, with Hyundai managing to increase market share for the second year in succession. Looking towards the future, we are proceeding with cautious optimism and positively anticipate green shoots of recovery in 2021.”

For calendar year 2020, Hyundai registered cumulative sales of 522,542 units, of which 180,237 units, or 34.50%, were SUVs.
