Hyundai plots new seven-seater Alcazar SUV for India

Hyundai plots new seven-seater Alcazar SUV for India

Hyundai Motor India has announced plans to roll out a new SUV in the form of a seven-seater premium model called the Hyundai Alcazar.  

Commenting on the announcement, S S Kim, MD and CEO, Hyundai Motor India,said, “The year 2021 will add a new chapter in HMIL history, as we gear up to enter and redefine a new segment. The Hyundai Alcazar will supersede the aspirations of new-age buyers and redefine existing benchmarks to ensure customer delight.”

The upcoming Hyundai SUV, which will be made in India, will have three row of seats and will be based on the Hyundai Creta SUV. While the three-row SUV has been spied testing in various forms and multiple times, Autocar India, sister publication to Autocar Professional, has revealed the first set of spy shots of the Alcazar three-row cabin

The Hyundai Alcazar will take on the likes of the recently updated MG Hector Plus and the newly launched Tata Safari. Additionally, it will also see competition from the likes of the outgoing Mahindra XUV500 and its upcoming next-gen version that will hit the showrooms later this year.

As far as the price announcement and market launch of the Hyundai Alcazar three-row SUV goes, it is understood that Hyundai will introduce this new SUV in the Indian market by June 2021, making it the brand's first three-row SUV to be sold in India after a long time.
