Hyundai Motor India has announced some top level management changes. Y K Koo will take over as managing director from B S Seo, who is set to return to Hyundai Motor Company headquarters in Seoul after over five years in India. Mr Koo has served earlier in India and returns for his third stint.

In other changes, B S Jeong will assume charge of executive director (Sales & Marketing), relieving Y J Ahn, who will henceforth lead the corporate affairs team, replacing Y K Lee, who is set to return to Korea.  The changes are effective from November 8, 2015.

BS Seo was appointed HMIL MD on March 6, 2012. Prior to that, he was executive director (production). At the time of his being appointed MD, Seo had said: “I look forward to taking Hyundai Motor India to newer heights and working closely with the extended Hyundai family.” He has done just that.

HMIL, which is the country’s second largest carmaker and the largest exporter, is pulling out all stops to drive growth. In February 2012, the company sold 36,805 units which was its highest-ever domestic sales, riding on the performance of the Eon hatchback launched in September 2011.

In 2011-12, HMIL sold a total of 349,657 cars. In October 2015, Hyundai, riding on a wave of new launches, has recorded its highest-ever domestic sales of 47,015 units and exports of 14,777 units with cumulative sales of 61,792 units. In 2014-15, the carmaker sold 420,668 units.
