Hyundai Motor India unveils HND-14 concept

Hyundai Motor India has taken the wraps off its compact SUV concept called the HND-14. The concept gives a glimpse of a future model that will join the Korean carmaker’s future India line-up. While the Korean carmaker has not revealed much about the HND-14, it has confirmed that the car is under four metres in length. This would put a production version in competition with models like the Ford EcoSport and the just-revealed Maruti Vitara Brezza.
The styling is a departure from Hyundai’s current design palette. There are few curves and the design is more about straight lines and chunky forms. Hyundai’s hexagonal grille finds its way here but the slit-like headlights are unlike other Hyundais. Accentuated wheel arches atop oversized tyres and front and rear scuff plates are elements of note on the concept but are likely to be toned down for production. The glasshouse is large and there’s an interesting kink at the rear doors but the treatment is again not typical Hyundai. There’s an air of robustness to the HND-14’s tail-end with a chunky tail-gate and smart angular tail-lamps.
Hyundai has not revealed a specific timeline for the production version of the HND-14 albeit expect such a model to be at least a year away before it is launched in India.
