Continental to supply TFT instrument cluster to Hyundai Creta
Advanced solutions like TFT enable vehicle manufacturers to offer customers larger displays with higher definition.
Hyundai Motor India has chosen automotive supplier Continental to supply Thin Film Transistor- (TFT) based instrumentation clusters for the Creta SUV.
Advanced solutions like TFT enable vehicle manufacturers to offer customers larger displays with higher definition. This, according to Continental, is a step towards a future where optimised information management will be possible through holistic human machine interfaces (HMI).
The Creta, which was launched by Hyundai Motors India in mid-2015 to cater to the growing demand for compact SUVs in India, has been hugely successful. Continental’s 3.2-inch TFT display is a significant upgrade from the segmented LCD screens traditionally used in passenger cars in India. This new and enhanced cluster represents the infinite design possibilities offered by TFT technology.
According to Prasad C Basappa, Head of Business Unit, Instrumentation & Driver HMI at Continental Automotive Components India, “There is an increasing demand for programmable TFT screens in India as customers discover the limitless potential of this technology. Continental delighted to be Hyundai’s instrumentation partner for the Creta.”
TFT display technology can be customised and offers the flexibility of being fully programmable. They are not just managers for the in-vehicle flow of information, but also offer high-quality graphics, brilliant colours, razor-sharp contours and complex animations.
