Hyundai India rolls out 200 cars on first day of production restart

The Korean carmaker says it has ensured complete social distancing compliance in accordance with standard operating procedure.

Hyundai Motor India has announced that it produced 200 cars on May 8, the first day of production restart at its integrated plant at Sriperumbudur, Chennai. The Korean carmaker says it has ensured complete social distancing compliance in accordance with standard operating procedure.

The resumption of production at Hyundai Motor India comes 46 days after the carmaker had shuttered its two 750,000 units per annum plants.  Hyundai has two plants at Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. While Plant 1 has a manufacturing capacity of 330,000 units per annum, Plant 2 has 420,000. Each of the two factories sends out a new car once every 33 seconds.

Hyundai has confirmed that it is adhering to all the guidelines set by the State and Central governments and also practicing 360-degree safety – Care at workplace & Care at all times within the factory premises.
