Honda launches new Activa Premium at Rs 75,400

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the Activa Premium at Rs 75,400 (ex-showroom, Delhi). At this price point, it is dearer by Rs 3,000 than the standard Activa 6G and Rs 1,000 more than the DLX variant of the Activa 6G.

The Activa Premium gets a substantial number of cosmetic touches that differentiate it from the standard Activa 6G. It comes in three colours that are exclusive to it and it also gets a gold finish to a number of parts, which are either bare metal or have a chrome finish on the standard Activa 6G.

On the Activa Premium, the wheels, the Honda and Activa Premium logos, and the front apron’s embellishments, all have a gold-coated finish to them. Along with these changes, the seat and the plastic cladding on the inner body are finished in brown rather than the black on the standard Activa 6G. The front fork and the engine cover as well receive a blackeed-out finish as compared to the regular Activa 6G.

Underneath all these changes, though, are the same underpinnings found on the Activa. The 109.5cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine makes 7.7hp at 8000rpm and 8.9Nm of torque at 5500rpm, and is mated to a CVT gearbox. It also features a silent electric starter with an old-school kick-starter as standard.

The Activa Premium runs on the same pair of steel wheels found on the standard Activa 6G, shod with a 90/90-12 front tyre and a 90/100-10 rear, both of which are tubeless. Its braking hardware, too, continues to be the same, with a 130mm drum brake both at the front and rear. The underbone frame, the telescopic fork and three-step adjustable hydraulic shocks are also carried over from the Activa 6G.
