Even as the luxury motorcycle market hots up in India, Harley- Davidson sees the exit of its country manager for India, Manish Agarwal.
Thursday was his last day at Harley-Davidson India. Agarwal had a stint of nearly eight-and-a half years in the company. He was elevated to the country manager's role in April last year, prior to which he was the director-finance in the company. Agarwal had joined Harley- Davidson India after a near-14-year stint at Honda Cars India.
The exit of Manish Agarwal comes at a time when Harley-Davidson India is witnessing a slowdown in its sales. For the April 2017 to February 2018 period, 2,959 Harleys were sold in India, an 11.7 percent drop over the same period in FY2017. Harley-Davidson India's peak annual sales performance was in 2015-16 when it sold 4,708 units.
