Hardip Singh Goindi resigns as Piaggio Vehicles’ executive VP
Marketing veteran calls it a day at Piaggio after a four-year stint.
Hardip Singh Goindi, executive vice-president – Commercial Vehicles, Piaggio Vehicles, the 100 percent Indian subsidiary of the Piaggio Group, has resigned after a four-year stint, a year before his retirement next year.
Goindi, an alumnus of the Delhi College of Engineering and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, has spent over 27 years specialising in marketing and sales. He began his career as a marketing manager for the Diamond Chain Division of Tube Investments of India for six years, before heading Mahindra Holidays & Resort’s sales and marketing division.
In 2001, he joined TVS Motor Co when the Chennai-based two-wheeler manufacturer split from Suzuki Motor Corporation. He was instrumental in developing TVS’ international and three-wheeler businesses and was appointed sales and marketing head in 2008, becoming president – marketing two years later.
In August 2013, he joined Piaggio Vehicles as executive vice-president, commercial vehicles. In the April-July 2017 period, Piaggio has a 30 percent share in three-wheelers (24 percent in passenger carriers and 50 percent in goods carriers). It has a 0.57 percent share of the LCV goods carrier segment. The Porter 700, launched on June 14 this year, was the last vehicle launch Goindi was associated with.
