The 400km Vadodara-Mumbai Corridor, which has the highest density, has been accorded top priority and considered for a feasibility study.

The government of India has approved a plan for constructing 1,000 kilometres of Expressways under NHDP Phase-VI at a cost of Rs 16,680 crore on the Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer (DBFOT) model.

The main criteria for selection of Expressway corridors will be the traffic volume. The 400km Vadodara-Mumbai Corridor, which has the highest density, has been accorded top priority and considered for a feasibility study.

The government has also decided that remaining 600km will be selected from the routes identified on the basis of traffic volume. The high density corridors approved under NHDP Phase-VI are:

Vadodara-Mumbai Corridor (400km) in Gujarat and Maharashtra

Delhi-Meerut (66km) on NH-58 in Delhi/UP

Bangalore-Chennai (334km) on NH-4 in Karnataka/Tamil Nadu

Delhi-Jaipur (261km) on NH-8 in Delhi/Rajasthan

Delhi-Chandigarh (249km) on NH-1 and NH-22 (now changed to Delhi-Ludhiana-Amritsar-Katra Expressway) in Delhi/Punjab/J&K

Kolkata-Dhanbad (277km) on NH-2 in West Bengal/Jharkhand, and

Delhi-Agra (200 km) on NH-2 in Delhi/UP.
