After a nine-year stint at Spanish engineering company Gestamp’s India subsidiary, its president Raman Nanda has moved on from his role in the company to start a new venture. He has been replaced by Glyn John Jones, country manager, Gestamp India, who has shifted to India through an internal transfer.

After a nine-year stint at Spanish engineering company Gestamp’s India subsidiary, its president Raman Nanda has moved on from his role in the company to start a new venture. He has been replaced by Glyn John Jones, country manager, Gestamp India, who has shifted to India through an internal transfer.
Nanda, whose career spans around 40 years, mainly in the automotive and engineering businesses, is now working on building his own venture named STEP Transformations. Nanda told Autocar Professional that the major focus of ‘STEP (Sustainable, Time-bound, Efficient and Profitable) Transformations’ is the performance improvement/turnaround of organisations-family run or otherwise on the multiple dimensions, as well as enhancing the capabilities of their senior leadership team.
Prior to joining Gestamp, Nanda has had stints in family-run businesses and major Groups like Tatas and Murugappas. During his stint at Gestamp India, the company entered the hot stampings business and is currently enjoys a leadership position in this market. On February 9, 2017, Gestamp India opened a Rs 275-crore plant in Pune for hot stampings. At the time, the company invested 36 million euros (around Rs 275 crore) in the new facility to cater to FCA India, Ford India and Tata Motors.
Nanda was instrumental in bringing change on multiple occasions, and now plans to help others do so and enhance performance. In a time of coronavirus, when companies and industries face many a challenge, his experience and expertise should be in much demand.
