Ferrari has launched the GTC4Lusso and its V8-engined sibling, the GTC4Lusso T in India at Rs 5.2 crore and Rs 4.2 crore (ex-showroom, pan-India) respectively. The Italian carmaker has resurrected its ‘GTC4’ and ‘Lusso’ monikers for the facelifted FF, in line with its trend of borrowing names from its predecessors as seen with the 488GTB and the F12tdf. The GTC4Lusso T is aimed at younger clientele due to its marginally lower asking price.
Essentially a facelifted FF, the Ferrari GTC4Lusso gets a nip and tuck job that includes more aggressive rear fenders, mildly reworked sides, a new rear diffuser, a roof-mounted spoiler and a new front grille. Most of these changes are intended to make it more aerodynamic. In terms of dimensions, the four-seater supercar remains unchanged. However, this is the first time Ferrari has ever offered a choice of engines in one body style.
The GTC4Lusso is powered by the same 6,262cc, naturally aspirated V12 from the FF, but power output has been bumped up to 680hp, higher by 30hp. It hits 100kph from standstill in 3.4sec, which is 0.3sec quicker than the FF; top speed remains unchanged at 335kph. The engine is mated to the same seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The GTC4Lusso T, on the other hand, comes with a 3.9-litre turbocharged V8 that makes 610hp and 760Nm of peak twisting force. This engine, which is used on the 488GTB and won the 2017 International Engine of the Year award for the second consecutive year, sends power only to the rear wheels via the same seven-speed dual-clutch auto gearbox. The Lusso T is 0.2sec slower to 100kph than its V12-engined sibling.
Ferrari first introduced the four-wheel-drive system in the FF. While the GTC4Lusso gets the same system with rear-wheel steering, the V8-engined sibling gets only the rear-wheel steering. Dubbed 4RM-S, the new system aims give GTC4 drivers improved handling and control under any kind of road conditions such as snow, wet and other low-grip situations.
Ferrari's dual cockpit display makes its debut in the cars. It features both, a driver cockpit and a passenger cockpit, separated by a central divide, designed to improve the shared driving experience for those seated at the front. The infotainment system is a 10.25-inch touchscreen system, with Apple CarPlay, split view and sat-nav.
