FAME India scheme extended by six months
With the latest extension, the FAME India Scheme stands further extended for six months upto September 30, 2018 or till date of launching of Phase-II, whichever is earlier.
The government of India’s Department of Heavy Industry has issued a notification today under which the FAME India (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India) Phase 1 has been extended by another six months till September 30, 2018.
Phase-1 of the FAME India Scheme was originally for a two-year period – FY2015-16 and FY2016-17 – which began on April 1, 2015, which would be extended for a further period of six months till 30th September 2017 or till approval of Phase-II, whichever was earlier. On March 30, 2017 the Phase-1 of the FAME India Scheme was further extended for a period of six month (upto 31stMarch 2018) or till launching of Phase-II of FAME India Scheme by NITI Aayog, whichever was earlier.
With the latest extension, the FAME India Scheme stands further extended for six months upto September 30, 2018 or till date of launching of Phase-II, whichever is earlier.
"We thank the government for extending the FAME Scheme for another six months. It would certainly help the industry to move forward. Also, we are looking forward to the Phase II scheme, which we expect would have a much more constructive approach to achieve the desired results," said Sohinder Singh Gill, director (Corporate Affairs), Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles.
