EXCON 2015, South Asia’s premium expo for the construction equipment industry, is expected to generate more business compared to its previous editions on the reviving economy.
The expo is scheduled to display many new products including tippers, pullers, trucks and excavators from companies across the world.
Addressing a press conference today in Bangalore, Vipin Sondhi, chairman, EXCON 2015 and managing director and CEO, JCB India, said, "The construction equipment industry witnessed de-growth in the past three years. Now the industry is bouncing back to stability and the economy is expected to recover in 2016 and 2017."
"EXCON 2015, the expo organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will receive tremendous response as the country is in revival mode," Sondhi added.
With the theme on ‘Make India – Building Infrastructure, Building the Nation', he said the expo will see the participation of over 800 exhibitors including 270 overseas companies.
The trade fair will be held at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) in Bangalore from November 25-29, 2015, covering an area of 220,000 square metres of display area.
The eighth edition of the 5-day exhibition will see over 200 product launches and attract more than 35,000 business visitors from across the globe.
"With a current size of US$2.8 billion, the Indian construction equipment industry is expected to grow to $ 5 billion by 2019-20. The aftersales spares market is about $ 800 million and is a major source of income and employment opportunity for SSI manufacturers and service providers, thus contributing substantially to economic growth," Sondhi further added.
"The scope and reach of EXCON has been growing over the years and today we see the greatest number of industry and visitor participation, making EXCON 2015 the biggest ever exhibition of CE not just in India but also in South-East Asia. There will be participation from 22 countries with country pavilions from China, Finland, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Spain, Turkey and UK," summed up Sondhi.
The size of the expo has grown from 282 exhibitors with 22,000 visitors in 2007 to an expected 35,000 visitors and 810 exhibitors in 2015. Among others, companies like Tata Motors, Scania, JCB and Volvo will showcase their latest products in the expo.
Scania will display its flagship range of premium tippers: Scania P 410 8x4 Mining Tipper with 20 cu.m SSAB rock body and P 410 8x4 with 32 cu.m coal body, In addition, the company will showcase special customer support applications and services like Fleet Management Services (FMS), Scania lubricants and other genuine parts at the Scania stall.
Around 65 percent of exhibitors will be from India while the remaining 35 percent participants will be from overseas countries.
According to Sondhi, the exports of construction equipment from India has been picking up in recent years. Around 5 percent of the current market size of $ 2.8 billion has been exported to overseas markets.
