In an initiative to bring commercial vehicle manufacturers’ technologies and buyers’ aspiration together and introduce new trends in the industry, the three-day International Commercial Vehicle Fair (TICVF) kicked off at the Chennai Trade Center today.
The aim is to provide a platform for fleet owners, logistics operators, transport companies, state transport undertaking (STUs) and transport associations across the country.
Overall, 55 participants inclusive of truck OEMs, tyremakers, components manufacturers, lubricant makers, vehicle tracking and telematics providers and finance companies have put up stalls at the venue.
J Shunmugavel, director, of the organising company, said, “In India, not a single trade show is dedicated to commercial vehicle industry and through this initiative, we are trying to attract buyers and sellers together, to bring diverse decision makers from public transport and freight carry industry from India and abroad”.
Companies participating at the event include Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra, Volvo Eicher and AMW that put up their vehicles on display. Tyre manufactures inclusive of Michelin, Apollo and Continental, component makers and leading wheel makers such as Kalyani Hayes Lemmerz, ABC Bearings and others are also taking place.
Shunmugavel added that as compared to last year, the range of vehicles on display and number of stalls have increased marginally and attempts are being made to expand into different categories. However, this concept is still growing and it will take some more years before the participation increases.
Around 15,000 business visitors are expected to visit the trade show over the duration of the fair, which is supported by the All India Motors Transport Congress (AMTC), the state lorry owners federation of Tamil Nadu and the Tamil Nadu Omni bus owners association.
