Setting up an all-new entity named Ducati India and three brand-new showrooms across Delhi, Gurgaon and Mumbai, the Italian superbike maker has re-entered the Indian big bike market, an official communication said today.
It is known that the company has been working to set up its Indian operations in place for more than a year now, which primarily included hiring a new team, providing them with expert training, setting up a network of dealerships and after-sales service capabilities among other crucial areas.
“Our intention was to open in India with an official Ducati presence only when we were absolutely ready. I can now confirm that our aftersales service centres will ensure exactly the same high standards achieved across Ducati’s global network. We really appreciate the efforts put in by AMP and Infinity in setting up these world-class dealerships in record time,” said Ravi Avalur, who is now at the helm of all affairs at Ducati India as its new managing director.
According to the release by the company, “The initial plan for a network of Ducati dealerships to be established by the end of its first year is now on target with the dealerships in Mumbai, Delhi and Gurgaon being fully operational.”
While Infinity has opened a Ducati dealership in Mumbai, AMP has established two dealerships in the national capital region – Delhi and Gurgaon. The company release claims that the Gurgaon dealership is the largest showroom for Ducati in its global network.
Further, while the company is in the process of opening its fourth showroom in Bangalore soon, the official communication mentions that “Ducati India is also currently identifying, confirming and training a network of highly qualified and enthusiastic dealers ready to offer the 2015 models in other key cities.”
While a host of models from Ducati’s international portfolio are currently available in India, the company now is also expected to bring in its popular Scrambler model too.
Besides having a production plant in Bologna, the company has an assembly facility in Thailand, which commenced its operations in 2011 to cater to the demand in the Asian markets, and in Brazil, which started operations in 2012 with focus on South American markets. With emerging markets playing an important role, Ducati registered record sales of 45,100 motorcycles globally during 2014.
