DMRC Metro Rail deploys ETO e-rickshaws for first and last-mile connectivity

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) today flagged off e-rickshaw services, operated by Hyderabad-based electric mobility and service-provider company ETO Motors, from Jamia Millia Islamia Metro station to provide first and last-mile connectivity to commuters. The e-rickshaw fleet was flagged off by Mangu Singh, Managing Director, DMRC.

With an air quality index (AQI) level hovering around the 300 mark, the National Capital Territory of Delhi has been mostly ranking between hazardous and very poor categories in the AQI for the last many years. This has forced policymakers to take regular steps to reduce fuel emissions in the city.

As part of its EV policy, the Delhi Government aims to register at least 500,000 electric vehicles by 2024 in order to reduce air pollution in the national capital region. For last-mile connectivity, it aims to induct 35,000 electric two-, three-, four-wheelers and buses along and 250 public charging and battery swapping stations. It has also waived road tax and registration fees for all battery electric vehicles for the next three years.

Naga Satyam, co-founder and executive director, ETO Motors said: “We need smart green solutions for mobility to check the menace of air pollution. Battery-operated e-rickshaws is a sustainable solution for a better tomorrow. There are no dangers of any emission of toxic air from these green vehicles.”

“We are committed to providing clean, safe and shared mobility to the people of Delhi while ensuring their lower carbon footprint. Our affordable mobility service will definitely help passengers to save on their travel expenses each day. We are also thankful to Chief Minster Shri Arvind Kejriwal for his commitment towards green solutions for mobility,” added Satyam.
