Delhi government bans entry of M&HCVs from November to February to curb pollution
Entry of medium and heavy goods vehicles to be disallowed in the national capital from November 1, 2022 to February 28, 2023.
In an effort to keep air pollution levels down, particularly in the winter months, when the capital city witnesses high levels of smog due to many factors including stubble burning, the Delhi government has issued an order which bans the entry of medium and heavy goods vehicles (M&HCVs) in the national capital from November to February.
As per a PTI report, entry of such vehicles will be banned from November 1, 2022 through to February 28, 2023.
The Delhi government had, on June 15, written to its neighbouring states, including Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, urging them to allow only BS VI-compliant buses to enter the national capital from October 1 to help control air pollution in the city.
This essentially is to deal with the issue of vehicular pollution in the city, which according to officials, is contributed in part by vehicles driving in from the neighbouring state of Haryana.
