Datsun Redigo launched at Rs 283,000
Datsun has not only updated the styling of the Redigo, but also made structural upgrades to comply with the upcoming pedestrian safety norms.
Datsun India has launched the new Redigo with prices starting at Rs 283,000. The Redigo now features a heavily reworked front-end with a massive new grille, new bumper, L-shaped DRLs, and new headlights. The updates aren’t solely cosmetic in nature as there have been structural upgrades made in order to comply with crash test and pedestrian protection norms.
The engine options remain unchanged compared to the outgoing model, as both the 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engines have been upgraded to meet the BS-VI emission norms. The latter, however, is only available on the top-spec T(O) variant. Both engines are available with a 5-speed manual, though only the 1.0-litre gets the AMT automatic gearbox. The new Datsun Redigo is available in four trim levels - D, A, T and T(O).
Commenting on the launch, Rakesh Srivastava, MD, Nissan Motor India said, “With the new Datsun Redigo, we have introduced a high-quality product with a strong value proposition. Built with Japanese technology, the new Redigo offers segment-leading technological features that cater to growing ambitions of young India. We aim to enhance the value propositions of Datsun products in line with our mission of enabling progressive mobility.”
Coming to its competitors, the Datsun Redigo facelift with the smaller 0.8-litre engine rivals the Maruti Suzuki Alto, Renault Kwid 0.8. The Redigo 1.0-litre variant takes on the Renault Kwid 1.0 and the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso in our market.
