Launched on September 29, 2016, the limited edition Datsun Redigo has sold out its first lot of 1,000 units. A new batch of 800 units is now to be produced at the Chennai plant.

Datsun India has announced an increase in production for the Redigo Sport, following growing demand for the limited edition variant. The company is to produce an additional 800 units, with deliveries scheduled for November.

“The Datsun Redigo Sport version has generated more demand than anticipated and we are happy to announce that the initially planned 1,000 units have been sold out in less than a month. To meet the high demand, we are announcing an increase in production of the car with a further 800 units,” said Arun Malhotra, managing director, Nissan Motor India.

The Redigo Sport, which comes with nine new features, has bold black stripes and red accents on the exterior along with all-black interiors. The sporty-themed car is priced at Rs 349,479 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Nissan engineers at the Renault Nissan Technical Business Center India (RNTBC-I) in Chennai worked closely with the Nissan design team in Japan to roll out the Redigo Sport.

“The Redigo has redefined the value proposition offered to young achievers in India. We plan to continuously update and refresh the Redigo range in India to offer our customers a unique value proposition,” Malhotra added.

The Redigo Sport has helped drive up sales of the Redigo hatchback which, from May 2016 till end-September 2016, has sold a total of 13,244 units in the Indian market.
