Ceat rolls out WinEnergy X3-R tyres for electric buses
Having launched EV-specific tyres for two- and four-wheelers, Ceat expands its portfolio to include electric buses.
Having launched tyres for electric two-wheelers and electric four-wheelers in the past two months, Ceat has expanded its EV tyre operation to buses with its WinEnergy X3-R tyres specifically developed for electric commercial vehicles.
Ceat claims “several leading OEMs” have equipped their electric buses for urban duties with the WinEnergy X3-R but the company has not provided any specific OEM names.
According to Ceat, “these tyres deliver 30% higher mileage, 30% better rolling resistance and 50% reduction in tyre noise as compared to regular tyres.”
The new WinEnergy X3-R tyre addresses the unique requirements of electric buses. The tyre has an all-steel tubeless construction with a robust casing to cater to the high torque, and also low rolling resistance for better mileage. Other technologies include EVST for better stiffness and tyre grip, FaF to dampen noise, and BRIC-T to resist tread buckling. The tyres have a unique circuit design, a wider contact and reinforced sidewalls that help provide better traction and reduce tyre damage. They also fit all axle positions. The EV tyres are available in two sizes – 295/80R22.5 and 255/70R22.5.
