Bybre, the brand specifically dedicated to small-to-medium displacement motorcycles and scooters and part of the Brembo Group, has completed 10 years. Today, ByBre showcased its new range of brake calipers that bring together safety with a stylish customisable design for the Indian market, at the Auto Expo Components Show at Pragati Maidan.
The new two-piston and single-piston floating calipers (diameter 2x26mm) are characterised by the unmistakable arrow set in the B of ByBre, which becomes the distinctive element and makes the new family of brake calipers identity, emphasising the technical quality. Both calipers are available in various diameters.
The company says the new technical solutions adopted to favor the integration design/function is the position of the connection and bleed studs, inclined to be more protected from shocks and at the same time to have a design with simple lines, but with character, which make the caliper easier to clean.
A technical feature of the new calipers is the possibility to choose between improved ventilation (leaving the opening of the bridge free for air flow) and aesthetic customisation using the canopy available in different colors.
The new family of calipers, in addition to the single piston caliper with 32mm or 34mm diameter floating caliper already in the range, will soon see the addition of a new radial 4-piston caliper, also revised in aesthetics.
According to the company, the new products are aimed at supporting the evolution of the Indian motorcycle industry, with greater attention to design, appealing to a growing number of riders in India looking at bikes not only as a means of transport but more and more as a status symbol.
The Indian motorcycle market is evolving with more attention to design and performances. Also India is an hub for manufacturing motorcycle for the rest of the world. The brakes are evolving to meet the demand of more appealing design and improved performances.
Speaking with Autocar Professional on the year gone by, Sudhir Nirantar, CEO, Brembo Brake India said: “We have added new clients in terms of Mahindra Jawa, Ather Energy, which is the first electric two-wheeler in India that gets the ByBre brakes.”
ByBre, which has invested around Rs 236 crore in India with a strong focus on serving the domestic market, is gearing up for bigger opportunities. In fact, if one of the potential new customers for the brand could be in the way of the Bajaj-Triumph alliance, as the company already supplies different products to both the OEMs.
In terms of working with more start-ups the company says, while it has received interest from over a dozen companies; it will judicously evaluate them beginning supplies.
Responding to a query on the production capacity and plans for additional investment, Nirantar said, that looking at the current market scenario, it has enough capacity to meet demand from the domestic market. However, if need be, manufacturing capacity can be scaled up. Furthermore, ByBre plans to increase its sales in the scooter segment where it currently has just single-digit percentage.
