BMW Motorrad India has finally announced that it will open pre-bookings for their much awaited made-in-India small capacity motorcycles – the naked street G 310 R and the adventure G 310 GS – from June 8 onwards.
According to the company release, customers will be able to pre-book both the BMW motorcycles for Rs 50,000 ahead of their official launch. “Pre-booking can be done at any authorised BMW Motorrad dealership across the country. Deliveries will be done on a first come first serve basis as per orders,” says the company.
Vikram Pawah, president, BMW Group India, said, “BMW Motorrad has a legacy of designing motorcycles that bring together unparalleled riding pleasure, pure performance and assured quality in a unique combination. When BMW Motorrad announced its foray into the sub-500cc premium segment, it created a stir in the motorcycle industry. With the much-awaited BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS, BMW Motorrad will not only enter but redefine this segment in India."
"These two motorcycles are built for Indian roads and offer a true BMW at competitive costs. We are confident that like elsewhere in the world, the BMW G 310 R and the BMW G 310 GS will create a successful chapter in the India story as well,” added Pawah.
The incoming small-capacity BMW motorcycles, which will be powered by the four-stroke, water-cooled, single-cylinder, 34bhp, 313cc engine, will cater to the booming demand for the entry-level mid-capacity motorcycles in the domestic as well as the emerging markets worldwide. While the G 310 R will take on street duties, the G 310 GS will offer off-road riding applications to riders.
The BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS, both manufactured at TVS Motor’s Hosur facility near Bangalore, will take on Bajaj KTM’s entry-level mid-capacity motorcycle portfolio that currently offers the KTM 250 Duke and 390 Duke along with its RC variant and the Dominar. The BMW G 310 GS will take on Royal Enfield’s 410cc adventure bike – the Himalayan.
The two incoming BMW motorcycles will be retailed and serviced by BMW Motorrad’s current network of premium dealerships across seven cities. These include Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Kochi. The company is in the process of expanding its dealership network to Chandigarh and Kolkata, which will only begin accepting the bookings for the G 310 R and G 310 GS after their launch.
The company is also offering customised financing facilities to the buyers via BMW Financial Services India, a step taken to boost sales.
