Avis India launches mobile application for self-drive car rentals; to integrate international rental bookings in near future.

Operator of self-drive & chauffeur drive rentals, as well as B2B car-leasing services, Avis India, has introduced a new multi-feature mobile application.
The new application, available over iOS and Android platforms would enable seamless and quick car booking facilities, for both self-drive as well as chauffer drive services.

The new application, available over iOS and Android platforms would enable seamless and quick car booking facilities, for both self-drive as well as chauffer drive services.
Avis India currently has its presence spread across 20 major cities, including New Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Agra, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Cochin, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Rishikesh, Shimla, Trivandrum, Udaipur, and Vadodara
Customers will also be able to manage their bookings, redeem latest offers, get customer support, and share the services among their family and peers through the application.
Speaking at the introduction of the new technology, Sunil Gupta, managing director & CEO, Avis India, said “We're always looking for ways to save our customers’ time and enhance the rental experience - and that starts with the reservation process. Soon, the Avis India App will also power our international self-drive bookings to Avis worldwide network of 168 countries. The App will also enable chauffeur drive bookings to its large network of corporate customers.”
“We use sophisticated telematics solutions to enable all cars to be available on a single web and mobile platform. The Mobile application becomes the navigation and key to your car once it has been booked,” he added.
Avis India, a JV between Avis Budget Group of the US (60%) and The Oberoi Group (40%), has a 12 percent market share in the car leasing space in the country, with 40 percent of its revenues coming in from this area.
The company sees major share (60%) of the business coming in from its rent-a-car division, which comprises chauffer driven B2B services, as well as integrates its self-drive arm, both cumulatively running with a fleet size of 5,500 cars across India.
The mobile app, which is going to focus on domestic services initially, would also expand and allow customers to book their self-drive cars in advance as they plan for their travel abroad. Once booked, the cars could then be picked up and driven off in, straight from Avis’ centres at major airports worldwide.
